The City of Victor Harbor, South Australia, will be undertaking maintenance dredging at the Bluff Boat Ramp in the following weeks to remove built up sand that will enable sea rescue boats and other craft to launch at any time.

The council has engaged Maritime Constructions to undertake the dredging. Works are scheduled for up to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The contractor will begin preparation activities on the site today and this phase is set to last about a week.

According to their latest project update, the dredging operations are scheduled to begin on Saturday, 16 November, and it is expected to be complete by Friday, 29 November.

This will be dependent on the amount of work required and weather conditions, the council added.

The sand within the dredging location has been tested and is suitable to be used for beach sand replenishment activities.

Under the plan, the dredged sand will be disposed on the beach abutting Franklin Parade from Battye Road to Fell Street.
