The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Illinois Department of Natural Resources, is hosting a public open house, November 14, to discuss plans for ecosystem restoration in the lower portion of Mississippi River Pool 13.

The public open house is scheduled from 4-6 p.m. at the Clinton County Administration Building at 1900 N. 3rd St. in Clinton, Iowa.

The Lower Pool 13 Habitat Rehabilitation and Enhancement Project is part of the Upper Mississippi River Restoration (UMRR) Program and is located between Whiteside County, Illinois, and Clinton County, Iowa.

The area identified for restoration consists of backwater lakes, sloughs, flowing channels, and small river islands.

According to USACE, during the open house, subject matter experts will provide an overview of the UMRR Program, outline goals of the Lower Pool 13 project, and discuss possible solutions for identified concerns.

After the presentation, representatives from the partnering agencies will be on hand to answer questions and gather input from the community.
