U.S. offshore facilities fabrication company Gulf Island Fabrication has named a new president and chief executive officer (CEO).
Gulf Island said on Thursday that the company named Richard W. Heo as the president and CEO, effective that day.
Heo was also appointed to serve as a director of the company. He will replace Kirk J. Meche , who served as the company’s president and CEO since 2013.
According to Gulf Island, Meche will assist the company with the leadership transition.
Heo brings over 20 years of engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction industry experience. Most recently, he served as SVP of North, Central, and South America for McDermott.
He previously served as an executive VP of fabrication services for Chicago Bridge & Iron N.V. and president of CB&I’s Engineered Products business unit. Heo also served in various senior leadership positions at KBR.
Jack Laborde , Gulf Island’s chairman, said: “The board would like to welcome Richard as our next CEO. Richard has extensive industry knowledge and is a proven business leader with a track record of building highly functional sales and operations teams and successfully converting new ideas into sustainable and profitable revenue growth.”
Regarding his appointment, Heo stated: “I am honored and privileged to serve Gulf Island and our customers. I am excited to build on the legacy of the strong fabrication and services capabilities of our employees and look forward to continuing the tradition of serving our customers with a focus on performance, quality, and safety.”
