Russian oil and gas company Lukoil has completed the construction of the first well as part of Phase 3 of the development of the Vladimir Filanovsky field in the Caspian Sea.
Lukoil said on Friday that the well was drilled with the Neptune jack-up rig, mounted on a riser block platform.
The newly constructed well has two bores and features TAML level 5 intelligent completion system. The drill depth of the main bore is 3,235 meters. The bottom of the sidetrack is 3,261 meters deep. Planned daily flow rate of oil is 1,838 metric tons.
Produced oil is delivered to the Phase 1 central processing platform via a subsea pipeline. Phase 3, intended to maintain annual oil production at the planned production level of six million metric tons of oil, will integrate the western part of the field in the development.
According to Lukoil, the operation of the riser block platform is almost automatic and requires minimum involvement of the personnel.
The company added that it sidetracked two existing wells, continuing operational drilling at Phase 1.
The Vladimir Filanovsky field was commissioned in 2016 . Commercial operation of Phase 2 facilities began in 2018.
The field, the largest one in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea, had initial recoverable reserves of 129 million metric tons of oil and 30 billion cubic meters of gas. The field reached its target production level of six million tons of oil per year in 2018.
