Travel services provider Clipper Vacations has become a member of Green Marine, a voluntary environmental program for the maritime industry in North America.

“Minimizing our environmental impact is a responsibility we take seriously,” David Gudgel, Clipper’s CEO, said.

“It’s great to see the Green Marine program gaining more recognition within the ferry sector as a proven template to reduce waste and to operate in a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable manner,” David Bolduc, Green Marine’s executive director, added. “Through its participation, Clipper Vacations will be able to clearly benchmark its performance and pursue continual improvement.”

Clipper Vacations’ ferry service offers travel opportunities to destinations that include Victoria, Seattle, Vancouver, San Juan Island, Portland, as well as Vancouver Island in British Columbia.

Green Marine’s environmental certification program provides a map for ship owners, port authorities, terminal operators and shipyard managers to voluntarily reduce their environmental footprint. All results are independently verified every two years and each company’s individual performance is made public annually.
