The United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has authorized Texas LNG Brownsville’s proposed 2 train, LNG export facility located in the Port of Brownsville, Texas.

FERC’s authorization is a crucial step in the environmental review process to site, construct and operate the Texas LNG facility, Texas LNG said in its statement.

Vivek Chandra , co-founder and CEO of Texas LNG noted that approval is an important milestone that paves the way for a final investment decision.

The Texas LNG project would be capable of exporting up to 4 million tons of the chilled fuel per year, at full buildout.

The project would use the Permian Basin feed gas, third-party pipeline infrastructure, modular construction design. In addition, the 4 mta size of the facility fills the need from global LNG customers seeking smaller contracted volumes in order to diversify their gas supply portfolio, Texas LNG said.

Samsung Engineering is a minority equity owner in and strategic partner to Texas LNG.
