The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has given its consent to ConocoPhillips for exploration drilling in block 25/7 in the North Sea, offshore Norway.

The well 25/7-9 S is located in ConocoPhillips-operated production license 917 in a water depth of 127 meters. The well has been given the prospect name of Hasselbaink.

The location where well 25/7-9 S is to be drilled is in the center of the Norwegian sector of the North Sea, slightly west of the Balder/Ringhorne fields.

According to the PSA Norway’s statement on Friday, drilling is scheduled to begin in November 2019 and estimated to last at least 35 days. The consent also covers an option for a sidetrack.

The well 25/7-9 S is to be drilled using the Leiv Eiriksson semi-submersible drilling rig, owned by Transocean.

The rig was recently used by ConocoPhillips in production license 782 S to drill the wildcat well 25/7-7.

The well struck hydrocarbons , with preliminary estimates placing the size of the discovery between 1 and 10 million standard cubic meters (Sm3) of recoverable oil equivalent.
