South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries has laid the keel for the third newbuild LNG carrier being built for the Copenhagen-based Celsius Tankers.

The Danish company has made its entry into the LNG shipping market with its first order for a pair of liquefied natural gas tankers at the South Korean shipyard in August last year.

It followed up with a second order for another pair of LNG tankers in January this year.

According to a brief statement by a Celsius Tankers’ official the keel-laying ceremony was held on Monday, November 25.

The vessel, being built under the hull number SN2313, will have the capacity to transport 180,000 cubic meters and feature Mark-Ⅲ Flex type containment system with the re-liquefaction capability to lower the boil-off rate.
