Taiwanese shipping company Wisdom Marine Lines has taken delivery of a newbuild 61,000 dwt bulker from China’s COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian) shipyard.

Delivery of Amis Star, as the bulker is named, was announced by Japanese shipbuilder Kawasaki Heavy Industries, which operates the Dalian yard jointly with China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited (China COSCO Shipping).

The 199.9-meter vessel has a hold capacity of 77,539 cbm. It is powered by a MAN B&W 6S50ME-B9.3-TII diesel engine and sails under the flag of Liberia. Amis Star incorporates various energy saving technologies, which reduce both fuel consumption and emission of carbon dioxide (CO2), thereby complying with the EEDI* Phase 2 requirements, according to Kawasaki.

According to VesselsValue data, Wisdom Marine has further two 61,000 dwt units on order from Kawasaki, both scheduled for delivery in 2020.
