Danish offshore drilling contractor Maersk Drilling has secured more work for a jack-up rig and a drillship offshore the UK and Africa, respectively.
In its latest fleet status report, released on Wednesday, the rig owner said that CNOOC Petroleum Europe had exercised a one-well option for the Maersk Innovator jack-up rig in direct continuation of the rig’s current work scope.
The option is expected to start in the first quarter of 2020 and end in June 2020. In addition, six one-well options remain for the rig.
CNOOC previously exercised a one-well option for the 2003-built jack-up rig in June 2019. Under the option, the Maersk Innovator continued drilling infill wells at the Buzzard field on the UK Continental Shelf. This extension expires in February 2020.
Maersk Drilling also said that the Maersk Voyager drillship had been awarded a conditional letter of award for a three-well exploration campaign with Tota in Angola and Namibia, plus an additional two one-well options.
The contract is expected to begin at the end of 2019 and to be completed in August 2020. The rig is expected to have off-rate time in 4Q 2019 for SPS.
The 2015-built drillship’s previous contract was with Kosmos Energy for operations offshore Equatorial Guinea.
