The Collier County 2019 Beach Renourishment Project is wrapping up ahead of schedule, the county said in their latest announcement.

The crews have completed their mission of placing 165,000 tons of sand to a 2.4 mile stretch of Collier County beach extending from Park Shore South to Clam Pass.

According to the project update, they are now in the process of completing some shaping and grading of sand on some areas of the beach and final surveys will be needed before all the equipment will be removed from the project area.

The county’s contractor, Earth Tech Enterprises, Inc., will suspend beach renourishment work from Thursday, November 28 until early Monday morning, December 2.

The beach access at Horizon Way will be open to the public during the four-day holiday period. It will close again on December 2 to allow for project completion, said the county.

Funding for the project was allocated from Tourist Development Tax funds.

Earth Tech Enterprises, Inc. was the lowest cost responsive bidder at $3,579,500 and that was the bid approved by the Board of County Commissioners in late September.
