Dutch Marine Energy Centre (DMEC) will play an active role at the first Pan-American Marine Energy Conference (PAMEC) to raise awareness on how standards and certification can boost marine innovations.
PAMEC will take place in San José, Costa Rica between 26-28 January 2020.
Besides a paper presentation on ‘How international standardization and certification can accelerate commercial uptake’, DMEC will be hosting a workshop on IEC standardization and certification of marine energy convertors on Tuesday 28 January.
This interactive workshop will take place at the University of Costa Rica.
“ We will explain how certification works under IECRE, the IEC System for Certification to Standards Relating to Equipment for Use in Renewable Energy Applications. We will cover tidal stream, wave energy, OTEC and river stream technologies. The objective of the workshop is to raise awareness with all stakeholders about the role of certification in building investor confidence in the marine renewable energy sector, reducing technology risks, raising (project) finance and facilitating international export of goods and services ,” says Peter Scheijgrond , Head of Services at DMEC.
The workshop is open and targeted at stakeholders from Latin American countries, US and Canada, including investors, banks, project developers, insurers, maritime regulators, test laboratories, universities, classification bodies, technology developers and National Member bodies.
