Offshore installation contractor DeepOcean has decided to extend the contract for Solstad Offshore’s construction support vessel Normand Jarstein.
Solstad said Tuesday that DeepOcean had exercised its option to extend the contract for the CSV Normand Jarstein for a minimum period of 200 days in 2020.
The contract for the 2014-built vessel is slated to start during the first quarter of 2020. DeepOcean has the option to extend the contract with up to one year.
According to the Norwegian vessel owner, DeepOcean will utilize the vessel on its renewable energy and oil & gas projects.
The Normand Jarstein was earlier this year used to help Aker BP with the hook-up of Valhall Flank West platform . The hook-up operation was the first one Aker BP completed using a gangway for access from a vessel to an unmanned platform.
A project manager for Valhall Flank West said at the time that around 100 workers had lived on the Norman Jarstein vessel and had been transported over to the platform in more than 1,300 crossings during the course of the first hook-up phase.
The Normand Jarstein is a vessel equipped with a 250-ton active heave compensated subsea crane, capable of delivering loads to depths up to 3000 meters. It can be used for pipe and cable laying, subsea construction, surveying, and flotel – W2W.
