GE Renewable Energy is holding an official inauguration ceremony for the first Haliade-X 12MW, the world’s most powerful offshore wind turbine, on 17 December.

The event will be held in the Futureland Museum at Maasvlakte Rotterdam in the Netherlands, next to where the GE Haliade-X 12MW is installed.

To remind, the third and final LM Wind Power 107m blade was installed on the prototype turbine at Maasvlakte in mid-October, while the turbine produced its first power at the beginning of November.

Local teams are now proceeding with the testing phase, during which different types of measurements will be performed to obtain a Type Certificate for the Haliade-X in 2020. Serial production is expected to start in the second half of 2021.
