The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has issued an order granting Golden Pass LNG an extension to complete the construction of the proposed liquefaction and LNG terminal in Jefferson County, Texas.

FERC said last Friday that the extension was supposed to end on December 21. Now, the Golden Pass LNG is supposed to be made available for service by November 30, 2026.

Golden Pass noted in its filing that the extension was requested “due to delays in obtaining the necessary authorizations both from the Commission as well as the DOE’s Office of Fossil Energy, and the resulting uncertainty.”

Also, additional time was needed “to enable Golden Pass LNG to enter into the necessary commercial arrangements to commence construction.”

The facility is owned by Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil, with 70 and 30 percent stakes, respectively.

It is worth noting that the two companies formed Ocean LNG joint venture marketing company to purchase and offtake all the LNG volumes to be produced by Golden Pass LNG.
