Ofgem has selected Transmission Capital Partners as the preferred bidder for the offshore transmission assets of the Beatrice offshore wind farm in Scotland.

Transmission Capital Partners, a consortium comprising INPP, Amber Infrastructure and Transmission Investment, expects to invest up to GBP 60 million.

The financial close is expected to take place later in 2020, when additional information on the project will be released.

According to the company, this latest scheme represents its ninth such project.

Beatrice comprises 84 Siemens Gamesa 7MW turbines located 13km off the coast of Caithness, as well as two offshore substations.

The 588MW offshore wind farm was officially opened on 29 July.
