South Korean shipbuilding giant Hyundai Heavy Industries has booked a new order for a pair of liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers worth $376 million.

The two vessels ordered by a shipowner whose name remained undisclosed will be capable of transporting up to 174,000 cubic meters of the chilled fuel.

The vessels are being built at the company’s Ulsan shipyard and are scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2022.

In addition, the company’s Hyundai Mipo Dockyard has also secured an order with the U.S. shipping company for a pair of LNG carriers with the order totaling $127 million.

Hyundai Heavy Industries noted that it has secured a total of 18 orders over the past week, totaling $2.2 billion. Out of the 18 vessels ordered, six are liquefied natural gas carriers.

With the recent orders, Hyundai Heavy Industries Group has reached 74 percent of its annual order goal, up from 40 percent at the end of the third quarter this year.
