Norwegian offshore safety body, the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA), has given its consent to Neptune Energy for exploration drilling in the Norwegian Sea using the West Phoenix rig.
According to the PSA’s update on Monday, the agency gave Neptune Energy its consent for exploration drilling in block 6507/8 in the Norwegian Sea.
The well 6507/8-10 belongs to production license 889, for which Neptune is the operator. The well has been given the prospect name of Grind. It will be drilled using the West Phoenix semi-submersible drilling rig.
The site of well 6507/8-10 is in the Norwegian Sea, east of the Heidrun field and around 156 kilometers from the nearest land, at Vikna. The water depth at the site is 322 meters.
Drilling is scheduled to begin in mid-January 2020 and is estimated to last for 67 days.
