Danish drilling contractor Maersk Drilling and Shelf Drilling have closed a transaction related to the sale of the Maersk Completer jack-up rig.

Shelf Drilling entered into a deal to buy the the Maersk Completer from Maersk Drilling for $38 million in cash in December last year. The rig, which was delivered in 2007, has been stacked in Singapore since 2017.
The sale was in line with Maersk Drilling’s decision to concentrate its jack-up activities in the harsh environments in the North Sea. Maersk also believed it had limited prospects for reactivation of the rig.
Shelf Drilling announced on Tuesday, January 7 it had completed the purchase and acceptance of the jack-up rig.
The rig has been renamed Shelf Drilling Enterprise. The company said it would provide a further update on expected deployment of this rig in the near-term.
