Bech-Bruun has advised Marubeni Corporation and its partners on the legal and commercial matters in relation to the Akita Noshiro offshore wind project in Japan.

Bech-Bruun has since February 2017 advised on the structure of the project and assisted in the procurement process including drafting and negotiation of major supply contracts.

To remind, a consortium led by Marubeni recently announced it will start building Akita Noshiro, the first large-scale offshore wind project in Japan established on a commercial basis, later this month.

The project will comprise two wind farms that will feature turbines installed on bottom-fixed foundations and will have a combined capacity of 140MW.

The construction of the onshore substations and transmission lines is scheduled to start this month, and the commercial operations are expected in 2022.

Apart from Marubeni, the consortium includes Obayashi Corporation, Tohoku Sustainable & Renewable Energy, Cosmo Eco Power, The Kansai Electric Power, Chubu Electric Power, The Akita Bank, Ohmori, Sawakigumi Corporation, Kyowa Oil, Katokensetsu, Kanpu, and Sankyo.
