Red Rock’s 3D compensated crane has completed the Harbour Acceptance Test (HAT) at Ulstein Verft in Norway.

According to Red Rock, the next milestone will be the SAT (Sea Acceptance Test).

While both the FAT and the HAT used simulations of wave and ship movements, the compensation system and technology will be tested on live waves and will finally demonstrate the true abilities of both the crane and the software, the company said.

To remind, in January 2019, Ulstein Verft contracted Red Rock to deliver a 3D-motion compensated knuckle jib crane for the service operations vessel (SOV) ordered by Bernhard Schulte for the Merkur offshore wind farm .

Red Rock has also delivered RDA120 and RDA36 davits to the vessel which will support the maintenance of the project’s 66 GE Haliade 150-6MW turbines.
