The first inter-array cable has been installed at the Borssele 1 & 2 offshore wind project in the Netherlands.

Nexans is providing up to 190km of inter-array cable rated at a maximum operating capacity of 72.5kV for the 752MW project, while Van Oord is in charge of the transport and installation .

Van Oord is deploying its dedicated cable-laying vessel Nexus and trencher Dig-It to install and bury the 94 inter-array cables to a depth of 2m.

Located some 22km off the coast of the Zeeland province, Borssele 1 + 2 will comprise 94 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines scheduled to be operational by the end of the year.

The installation of foundations is currently ongoing , and the first turbines are expected to be installed in April.
