Singapore-headquartered PaxOcean Group has signed a contract to build a self-elevating platform (SEP) for Japan’s Penta-Ocean Construction.
Scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2022, the SEP is of a GustoMSC design, equipped with four tubular legs and four azimuth thrusters.
The vessel will be fitted with a Huisman 1,600-tonne leg encircling crane, a clear deck area of approximately 3,800 sqm, with accommodation designed for 80 persons.
“We believe this new SEP will make a significant contribution to Japan’s offshore wind power generation expansion with the highly efficient and cost-effective construction,” Takuzo Shimizu , President, Chief Executive Officer & Representative Director of Penta-Ocean Construction, said.

The SEP will be built in PaxOcean’s yard in Batam, Indonesia.
Back in November 2019, Penta-Ocean Construction, Kajima Corporation, and Yorigami Maritime Construction agreed to jointly construct and operate the SEP. The vessel will be capable of installing foundations and turbines with a capacity of between 10MW and 12MW.
The SEP is scheduled to be completed and delivered in September 2022 and operational in March 2023, Penta-Ocean Construction said.
