The PSA said on Friday that the consent applied to plugging, drilling, and completion of wells on the Tordis and Vigdis fields using the Deepsea Atlantic rig.

The fields are located in production license 089 where Equinor is the operator with a 41.5 percent stake. The remaining partners are Idemitsu Petroleum, Petoro, Vår Energi, and Wintershall Dea.

According to the PSA, the start-up of the operations is scheduled for mid-March 2020 and the operations will last for 196 days.

The Deepsea Atlantic is a sixth generation deepwater and harsh environment semi-submersible rig capable of operating at water depths of up to 3,000 meters.

The rig is operated by Odfjell Drilling. It received an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) from the PSA in 2009.
