The Dutch service supplier of liquefied natural gas, Titan LNG completed the ship-to-ship bunkering operation at the port of Rotterdam last week.

The company said that its FlexFueler 001 provided some 250 tonnes LNG to the Tarbit Tankers-owned 25,000 dwt product tanker Bit Viking.

Bit Viking is the first vessel ever to undergo a conversion by Wärtsilä from Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) to Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) operation in 2011 when Wärtsilä 46 engines were switched to Wärtsilä 50DF dual-fuel engines.

Titan LNG noted it has cooperated with Tarbit Tankers and TSA Tanker Shipping on this operation.

FlexFueler 001 started operations in June 2019, and is designed to have a fixed location to supply inland waterway vessels, but can also be navigated to larger sea-going vessels.

The FlexFueler001 is part of a series of vessels. Titan LNG will deploy the FlexFueler002, currently under construction and scheduled to be ready by mid-2020, in the Port of Antwerp.

At the end of last year, Titan LNG has started the tender process for 8000-cbm Titan Hyperion, the company’s third liquefied natural gas bunkering barge to operate in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) region.
