Golar Power completed the operational test oft he liquefied natural gas-fueled 1.5 GW Sergipe power plant in Porto de Sergipe, Brazil.

The joint venture between Golar LNG and Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners said in its statement that the test included supplying a maximum load of the plant (1.5 GW) to the National Interconnected System (SIN) for a period of 96 continuous hours.

The test is the final requirement of the National System Operator (ONS) in order to start commercial operations under the 25-year power purchase agreements.

For the test, the three gas turbines, the steam turbine and three heat recovery boilers operated in a combined cycle and delivered a volume in excess of 1.5GW, for 96 continuous hours.

At the end of February, UK’s Centrica delivered 95,000 cubic meters of LNG by a ship-to-ship operation to the Golar Nanook floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) located 8.5 km off the coast for commissioning purposes.

The FSRU is connected to the 1.5 GW Sergipe power plant.
