German LNG Terminal, the joint venture behind the LNG terminal project in Brunsbuettel, Northern Germany, is ready to sign heads of agreements.
Speaking to a German business journal, German LNG Terminal spokesperson, Katja Freitag noted the project is attracting strong interest, with Brunsbüttel emerging as the “ideal geographical location.”
German LNG Terminal is a joint venture between Dutch companies Gasunie LNG Holding, Vopak LNG Holding and Oiltanking, a unit of Marquard & Bahls based in Hamburg / Germany.
The facility, with a planned capacity of 8 bcm will combine a variety of services, such as the unloading and loading of LNG carriers, the temporary storage of LNG, the re-gasification of LNG and its send-out into the German natural gas network and LNG distribution by trucks and rail cars.
Speaking of Brunsbüttel’s location, Freitag added it is easily accessible for Q-Max carriers and suited to supply LNG to the port of Hamburg and is also based at the entrance to the Kiel Canal providing access to the Baltic and Scandinavian markets.
To remind, the project launched an expression of interest at the end of October last year. It planned to ink the first heads of agreements mid-November with capacity booking requests planned for late November, none of which have been signed yet.
