Ørsted has awarded Muehlhan Wind Service (MWS) with a contract to carry out a coating campaign at three of its UK offshore wind farms.

The work will be performed on the Walney 1 & 2 and the Barrow 1 offshore wind farms located on the West coast of England in the Irish Sea.

The order also includes the logistics from the Port of Barrows with daily vessel crew transfer to the projects.

Work will begin this spring and is expected to end in autumn 2021.

“We are very excited to start this project, the project requires a lot of planning and an extensive knowledge about access solutions – We already see a great cooperation with Orsted and we believe that the project will be executed in a great manner,” said Goran Skopljak , MWS Head of Business Unit Paint & Steelwork.

Walney 1 and Walney 2 each comprise 51 Siemens 3.6 MW turbines, which commenced operations in 2012.

The 90 MW Barrow 1 project features 30 V90-3.0 MW turbines which have been operational since 2006.
