Island Offshore vessel Island Victory is working for Ocean Installer in the Barents Sea installing two subsea frames at the Askeladd field.

This is so far the heaviest lift by an Island Offshore vessel, with a load of 175.2 tonnes in the crane hook.

“This is a milestone within subsea operations for Island Offshore and Island Victory in particular, and a direct result of extensive planning and preparations for loading, survey and ROV operations in collaboration with our service providers on board,” says ship manager Roar Skjeret .

At Askeladd, Island Victory ’s scope of work includes installation of subsea manifolds and performing survey and subsea activity, using the vessel’s two work ROVs as well as the 250 tonnes offshore crane.

Fugro is the supplier of survey services for this project, while C-Innovation is responsible for ROV services.

“ The Island Victory crew has performed in a very satisfactory way to both client Ocean Installer and operator Equinor, securing progress in the project ,” says Skjeret.

Askeladd is in the process of connecting to the existing Snøhvit field, which together with Albatross are all underwater installations under remote operation in the Barents Sea.

Gas and condensate will be led ashore by pipelines where it will be liquefied at the LNG plant at Melkøya outside Hammerfest.
