Orkney-based marine renewables contractor Leask Marine will see its engineer Elsa Ramírez run for one of the Scottish Renewables Young Professionals Green Energy Awards.

Elsa Ramírez serves as Leask Marine lead designer and project engineer/manager on new construction and tool development projects supporting governmental, commercial, and educational industries.

Ramírez joined the company after finishing her master’s degree in Marine Renewable Energy at ICIT Heriot – Watt University Orkney Campus in August 2017.

In that time she has played a key role in designing an applying her technical expertise and engineering skills to improve supply chain operations across the marine renewables industry.

Almost 30 finalists are in the run for the 2020 Young Professionals Green Energy Awards.

Those shortlisted have shown their enthusiasm to drive change within the sector by undertaking key research to help shape the future, supporting renewable energy development in communities and improving the efficiency of project processes.

Due to coronavirus, this year’s awards will be presented online through social media during the first ever Young Professionals in Green Energy Awards Week from June 15 – 19.
