CWind Taiwan has acquired two crew transfer vessels (CTVs) from Seacat Services to support the Yunlin offshore wind project in Taiwan.

Seacat Resolute and Seacat Vigilant will be chartered to support Siemens Gamesa during the development and construction of the 640 MW wind farm.

The two 24m CTVs are both class-certified South Catamarans that have already conducted crew and equipment transfers for Siemens Gamesa and other offshore wind firms in the European market, the company said.

“Resolute and Vigilant are fine additions to our fleet – now five-strong – helping us to bolster our existing offering while meeting the demands of a burgeoning market,” said Ethan Wang , Commercial Director at CWind Taiwan.

“They will help to ensure that we can continue to deliver first-class logistical support for offshore wind farms throughout construction and ongoing operation of Taiwan’s first projects.”

Yunlin will feature 80 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW turbines installed some 8km offshore and scheduled to come online in 2021.

The 640 MW project is 73% owned by wpd and 27% owned by a Sojitz Corp-led consortium.
