Damen preps Apollo for SeaMade work

DEME Offshore’s jack-up Apollo has undergone spudcan shoes extension installation at Damen Shiprepair & Conversion’s yard in Dunkerque, France.

With the new spudcan extensions, Apollo will be able to get more stability on a wider variety of seabed soils, Damen said.

Following her stay at the Dunkerque yard, the vessel is now ready to sail to Oostende in Belgium to start working on the 487 MW SeaMade offshore wind project.

Apollo will transport and install the wind farm’s 58 Siemens Gamesa 8.4 MW wind turbines at the site situated 35 – 50 kilometres off Oostende.

SeaMade is a combination of two concession zones, the 252 MW Seastar and the 235 MW Mermaid. It will be Belgium’s largest offshore wind farm once commissioned by the end of 2020.

Seamade NV, a joint venture between Otary (70%), Electrabel (17.5%), and Eneco Wind Belgium SA (12.5%), is the project developer.
