Second MHI Vestas deck carrier launched in China

Jiangsu Zhenjiang Shipyard has launched the second of the two specialized deck carriers ordered by United Wind Logistics (UWL) and chartered out to MHI Vestas.

The 10,000 DWT full electric propulsion deck carrier, MV BraveWind, was launched in Zhenjiang, China, on Monday, 15 June.

MV BraveWind’s sister vessel, MV BoldWind, was delivered to UWL back in May.

AIS data shows that MV BoldWind is currently navigating the Suez Canal on her way to Europe.

The 148.5-metre deck carriers are on long-term charters with MHI Vestas which will use the vessels to transport offshore wind components.

UWL has an option to order two additional deck carriers at Jiangsu Zhenjiang.

Besides MV BoldWind, the Hamburg-based company currently operates one other specialized deck carrier, MV Vestvind, which has been on a charter with MHI Vestas since June 2017.
