Malaysian oil and gas services provider Uzma Berhad has received a letter of award from a subsidiary of compatriot energy giant Petronas for work on the Sepat field.

Uzma said in a Bursa Malaysia filing on Tuesday that the contract was awarded to its subsidiary, Uzma Engineering, by Petronas Carigali.

According to the company, the deal is for the provision of portable water injection module for the Sepat platform.

Uzma’s scope includes design, engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, hook- up, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of the water injection module at Sepat.

Petronas added in the filing that the duration of the contract would be effective from 22 April 2020 and would expire 30 months after the first water injection at Sepat.

The value of the contract is approximately RM27,000,000 ($6,3 million) over the estimated 30-month contract period.

As for the field, Sepat was discovered on unlicensed acreage in 2003 by Petronas Carigali. Initial exploration in the Sepat area had discovered gas, but the Sepat Deep-1 well encountered a deeper oil rim, underlying the main gas-bearing reservoir.

Petronas Carigali was awarded a PSC for the Sepat Deep field in the second quarter of 2010. Sepat Deep was developed using an early production system (EPS) which consists of a mobile offshore production unit, linked to an FSO.

Uzma has been active in recent months with wins of several deals with big oil companies . Namely, Mubadala Petroleum awarded the company a deal for the provision of coil tubing services in Thailand.

Also, Uzma Engineering won a contract by Sarawak Shell Berhad for the provision of well abandonment integrated services, which covers five wells for Shell-operated platforms in Sarawak that will run until the end of 2020.

Uzma Engineering was also awarded a work order from an umbrella contract for the provision of well testing and tubing conveyed perforations. The work order was awarded by Petronas Carigali for the lightweight well testing services for a period of up to March 2021.
