Aker BP gears up for drilling in Norwegian Sea

Aker BP is set for drilling operations in the Norwegian Sea with the Deepsea Nordkapp rig following approvals from the Norwegian authorities.

Aker BP is set for drilling operations in the Norwegian Sea with the Deepsea Nordkapp rig following approvals from the Norwegian authorities.

Aker BP has received consent from the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) for exploration drilling in block 6607/12 in the Norwegian Sea using the Deepsea Nordkapp rig.

The consent applies to a well named 6607/12-4 on the Alve NE prospect.

The Norwegian company has already received a drilling permit from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) to drill two wells – 6607/12-4 and 6607/12-4 A.

The drilling program for well 6607/12-4 relates to the drilling of a wildcat well and appraisal well 6607/12-4 A in production licence 127 C.

The drilling operations are expected to last for 90,5 days in a water depth of 363 metres.

Aker BP is the operator of the licence with an ownership interest of 88.0825 per cent and the other licensee is PGNiG Upstream Norway with the remaining 11.9175 per cent.
