Partrac has provided metocean survey and consultancy services for three offshore wind projects currently under development in Ireland.
Partrac said it had provided scoping and planning of hydrographic and metocean surveys, and the deployment and servicing of floating lidar and metocean measurement equipment in support of site characterization and feasibility studies.
The company was also responsible for the scoping assessment of the marine and coastal physical processes topic area for EIA, and assisting developers with these processes at the sites, as well as studying seabed morphodynamics to assist front-end engineering design and planning of turbines and cables.

“We are confident that our input and assistance will help towards achieving the goals for offshore wind set out in the Irish Government’s Climate Action Plan.”
The Irish Government’s Climate Action Plan commits to having at least 3.5 GW of offshore wind in the next ten years, which will help renewables account for 70% of electricity generation by 2030.
The government recently selected seven offshore wind projects to be fast-tracked through the new marine planning regime.
