Siemens Energy has been contracted to provide a cryogenic boil-off gas (BOG) compression train for Nigeria LNG’s facility on Bonny Island.
The solution will play a key role in providing additional BOG handling capability and spares for the existing system, Siemens said in its statement.
The new BOG compression train will be driven by an electric motor and includes two Siemens Energy centrifugal compressors.
Manufacturing, testing, and packaging of the compression train will take place in Duisburg, Germany, with a free-on-board delivery slated for the fourth quarter of 2021.
NLNG is a joint venture compromising of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC – 49 per cent), Shell (25.6 per cent), Total (15 per cent) and ENI (10.4 per cent).
Earlier this year Nigeria LNG signed the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts for its Train 7 project with the SCD JV Consortium, comprising units of Saipem, Chiyoda and Daewoo.
The new unit will add around 8 million tonnes per annum of capacity to the Bonny Island facility, taking the total to around 30 mtpa.
