Bladt loads out first TPs for Hornsea Two offshore wind farm

Bladt Industries has completed the load out of the first transition pieces (TPs) for the Hornsea Two offshore wind farm at its facilities in Aalborg.

In mid-September, the company carried out the load-out of the first six anode cages built for the 1.4 GW offshore wind project, saying the first six transition pieces would soon follow.

For Ørsted’s 1.4 GW offshore wind farm in the UK, which will feature 165 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW wind turbines, the Danish foundation manufacturer will deliver 135 transitions pieces for monopile foundations being produced by EEW. EEW OSB will produce the remaining 30 transition pieces.

According to Bladt, the last batch of its TPs for Hornsea Two will be loaded out during 2021.

At the beginning of September, the first six transition pieces from EEW OSB arrived at the Buss Terminal in Eemshaven, the Netherlands, which DEME Offshore chose earlier as the base port for Hornsea Two foundation installation.

A reported recently, the installation of the monopiles at the Hornsea Two site is scheduled to begin next month. The monopiles will be put into place by using DEME’s jack-up vessel Innovation .

Once fully commissioned in 2022, Hornsea Two will surpass the 1.2 GW Hornsea One as the largest operating offshore wind farm in the world.
