Siemens Gamesa has begun the construction of its offshore wind turbine plant in the Port of Le Havre, France.
The company revealed earlier this summer that the consortium led by GTM Normandie-Centre is in charge of the turbine plan construction.
As part of the consortium, ENGIE Solutions is responsible for all technical trades for the plant’s industrial buildings, as well as the tertiary buildings.
ENGIE will also carry out the Energy Savings Certificate (ESC) mission to reduce the site’s energy consumption.
The 22ha factory, located on the Quai Joannès Couvert, will be the first in the world to manufacture all main offshore wind turbine components under the same roof.
The site is expected to be brought into service in early 2022. It will supply turbines to the Fécamp and Bay of St. Brieuc offshore wind projects.
Arcadis will provide assistance to the project owner, while project management is provided by Egis, Artelia (Le Havre), and Enia architects.
The consortium led by GTM Normandie-Centre also comprises Eurovia for the earthworks, SNO TP for the access roads and networks, as well as Soletanche Bachy Fondations Profondes, Ménard and Botte for deep foundations.
