Swedish wave energy company Eco Wave Power has formed a strategic collaboration with Painhas for the licensing of its wave energy project in Portugal.
A Portugal-based engineering and construction company Painhas will take an integral part in the technical support needed for the official licensing procedures for the wave energy plant, according to Eco Wave Power.
The collaboration is part of Eco Wave Power’s newly signed concession agreement with the Port Authority of Leixões for its planned 20 MW wave energy project.
Once the licensing is obtained, the parties will work towards a continued collaboration for the execution of the project, Eco Wave Power said.

To remind, Eco Wave Power announced the plans to construct and commission the 20 MW power plant in Portugal earlier in 2020.
The project is set to be developed in two stages. In the first stage, Eco Wave Power expects to build up to 5 MW, while 15 to 19 additional MWs is planned for the second stage.
