ASM Industries has begun the fabrication of 42 tower sections for the Siemens Gamesa turbines destined for the Windpark Fryslân offshore wind project.

The fabrication activities began in September and will be taking place at ASM Offshore in Aveiro Port during the next months.

“This is a very important milestone achieved. Our new facility has successfully been commissioned and ramped up, and this project is one more step towards our strategy to be involved in the most challenging and demanding projects in the offshore industry, cooperating together with the major leading companies, such as SGRE, contributing actively for the Energy Transition,” said Adelino Costa Matos , ASM Industries CEO.

Windpark Fryslân will comprise 89 Siemens Gamesa 4.3 MW turbines located in the IJsselmeer Lake and some 6 km off the Frisian coast in the Netherlands.

The start of the wind turbine installation work is slated for March 2021, with the 382.7 MW offshore wind farm expected to be fully operational by the summer of 2021.
