Research for sustainable ship propulsion by Peutz

Peutz is a research consultancy with unique laboratory capabilities. Major area’s of expertise in the maritime domain are: Flow Technology, Acoustics, Underwater acoustics, Health and Safety.

Peutz supports the energy transition in the maritime sector with research for sustainable ship propulsion. Wind tunnel studies and Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations are used to assess the performance of wind propulsors like Flettner rotors or (rigid) sails.

Green hydrogen is regarded as a cornerstone of sustainable ship propulsion. Whether it is stored at high pressure or in cryogenic form it’s use requires a design for safety form the earliest stage.

Peutz supports hydrogen developments with simulations of the dispersion of hydrogen blow-off in emergency situations.
