Triton FPSO - Dana Petroleum

Oil and gas company Dana Petroleum has started production from a new well on the Bittern field located offshore the UK. The well is tied back to Dana’s Triton FPSO.

In an update last Friday, Tailwind Energy, one of the partners in the project, announced the completion and flow-back of the B5 production well in the Bittern Field, UKCS.

Tailwind holds a 64.63 per cent equity in the Bittern field.

B5 is a sidetrack of an existing Bittern well and has been a close collaboration between the field operator Dana Petroleum, Waldorf Production, and Tailwind and contractors Petrofac and Stena Drilling.

According to Tailwind, B5 was completed significantly under-budget and encountered excellent reservoir quality with a gross oil column of 130ft.

Following drilling and completion operations, the well was handed back to the Triton FPSO in October.

After an initial clean-up period, well production rates have stabilised in excess of 5,000 barrels of oil per day.

In a social media update on Tuesday, Dana Petroleum also confirmed the start of production from the new well on the Bittern field, which is tied back to the Triton FPSO.

The Triton FPSO is producing oil and gas from the Bittern, Guillemot West & North West fields Clapham and Pict and Saxon fields.

It is located in the UK Central North Sea, Block 21/30, approximately 193km (120 miles) east of Aberdeen.
