French oil major Total, as the operator of the DUC partnership, has suffered delays with the Tyra Redevelopment Project due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result, the first production has been postponed to 2023.
The Danish Underground Consortium (DUC), which is working on the Tyra Redevelopment, is a partnership between the operator Total (43.2 per cent), Noreco (36.8 per cent), and Nordsøfonden (20 per cent).
Noreco said in an update on Friday that the first production from the Tyra Redevelopment Project is now expected in 2Q 2023 instead of 2022 as previously communicated.
This is a consequence of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Noreco explained.
Due to Covid-19, local governmental imposed restrictions at the fabrication yards have impacted the schedule of the new Tyra topsides, including through the global supply chain delivering key components for the topsides.
As a direct consequence of this impact, the installation of the four new topsides is rescheduled from 2021 to a 2022 installation-window.
The first production from the redeveloped Tyra is then expected in 2Q 2023.
Noreco noted that the project remains on track to be delivered within budget.
Tyra redevelopment progress
The Tyra field is the largest gas condensate field in the Danish sector of the North Sea.
Due to seabed subsidence, the field required a redevelopment, and in September 2019 production was temporarily shut-in.
The redevelopment consists of three main elements: Removal and decommissioning of the prior Tyra platforms, reuse and 13 meters extension of the current jackets at six platforms that will have new topsides, and a totally new process platform and a new accommodation platform.
Earlier this year, the Allseas-owned heavy lift vessel Pioneering Spirit removed the Tyra East and Tyra West integrated processing and accommodation platforms.
This was the final part of the redevelopment project’s decommissioning campaign and it was completed in August.
Total in September 2020 moved the project into a new phase following the installation of two new jackets.
The jackets form the foundation for the new Tyra process and accommodation platforms and were the first new jacket structures delivered and installed for the Tyra redevelopment project.
The remainder of the project will focus on yard fabrication and offshore installations to rebuild the new Tyra.
The wellhead and riser modules are currently being built in Singapore, the accommodation module in Italy, and the process module in Indonesia.
