Wind turbine installation at the Moray East offshore wind farm is scheduled to start in the first days of the next year, around 5 January.

The wind turbines will be installed by the Bold Tern jack-up vessel, with the commissioning work to be done from Acta Centaurus , supported by two crew transfer vessels, HST Harri and Windcat 40 , according to the project’s latest Notice to Mariners.

The wind farm will feature 100 MHI Vestas 9.5 MW wind turbines, all of which are expected to be commissioned by 2022.

Fred. Olsen Windcarrier secured a contract for the transport and installation of Moray East’s wind turbines in the first half of 2019, when the company said it would deploy one of its Tern class vessels for the work and use the Port of Invergordon as the pre-assembly site.

According to the vessel’s latest AIS data from the beginning of this month, Bold Tern is currently in the Port of Esbjerg in Denmark.

The 950 MW Moray East offshore wind farm, located some 22 kilometres off the Aberdeenshire coast, is being developed by Moray Offshore Windfarm East Ltd (MOWEL), a joint venture company owned by Ocean Winds (56.6%) Diamond Green Limited (33.4%), and CTG (10%).
