Bombora Wave Power has unveiled plans to expand its current facilities and teams to support the delivery of its full-scale mWave wave energy device and other projects.
Originally established in Australia, Bombora Wave Power moved its operations to Pembrokeshire in Wales in 2017.
Over time Bombora has grown significantly and developed a high-end design and manufacturing capability, both internally and through the local supply chain.
Now, the company intends to consolidate and grow this capability by establishing a new ‘mWave Module Assembly Facility’ within Pembroke Dock to complement its existing offices.
The facility will initially service Bombora’s Pembrokeshire project, but in the near future will be required to supply mWave cell modules and power take-off (PTO) modules for regional and global projects, according to the company.
Bombora has made excellent progress on building its first 1.5MW mWave and will be commissioning the project this summer.
The company recently announced it has embarked on a new project with TechnipFMC, dubbed InSPIRE, where wind and wave power are being integrated into single floating platforms.
To deliver these projects successfully and ensure its technology continues to improve, Bombora is looking to grow its engineering team once again.
The company has just announced vacancies for a Senior Mechanical Engineer, a Senior Electrical Engineer, a Membrane Engineer and a Finite Element Analyst.
“These roles will be offered with very competitive remuneration to the right candidates, and will have the option of either working from our headquarters in Pembrokeshire or from our new satellite office being set up in Bristol”, Bombora said.
To remind, Bombora has also recently entered into agreement with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) to explore marine energy project opportunities in Asia-Pacific region.
The partnership will identify potential sites for both mWave energy projects and combined wind and mWave energy projects in and around Japan, Bombora said earlier.
