Saipem lifts roof on Nong Fab LNG terminal

Italian contractor Saipem has hit a company milestone and made progress on the construction of the Nong Fab LNG regasification plant in Thailand.

The company noted that with 1,026 tonnes and 92 meters in diameter, the roof for one of Nong Fab’s LNG storage tanks was a new track record for Saipem.

The Nong Fab regasification plan will have the longest jetty for LNG in the world, one of the biggest LNG tanks worldwide and the longest subsea tunnel constructed by using the jacking methodology, Saipem said in a brief statement through its social media channels.

Saipem is the leader in the joint venture with CTCI Corporation with a 55 per cent stake in the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning deal of the Nong Fab LNG terminal.

Works include the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the Nong Fab terminal. Once completed the facility will have a maximum receiving capacity of 9 mtpa of LNG.

The facility being built by PTT LNG features two 250,000-cbm storage tanks and is located at Baan Nong Fab in eastern Rayong province.

The facility is being built as part of plans by PTT to raise its annual LNG handling capacity to 19 million tonnes by 2023 from the current 10 million.
