German shipbuilder Meyer Werft has begun the construction of the new LNG-powered Arvia cruise ship for the British shipping company P&O Cruises.
The shipyard hosted a steel cutting ceremony for the cruise ship on February 18th, 2021. The sister ship of the Iona is optimally tailored to the preferences of British passengers.

The ship with a size of around 180,000 GT is operated entirely on the low-emission fuel LNG. Like her sister ship, which was delivered in 2020 , the Arvia will be equipped with the 970 square meter SkyDome glass dome.
Both vessels have the capacity to accommodated 5,200 passengers and will be UK’s largest cruise vessels and among the largest in the world.
Both vessels also feature a length of 344.5 meters and a 42 meter width.
The shipping company announced the name a few days ago.
With Arvia, the British shipping company P&O Cruises will receive the fourth cruise ship in their fleet from Meyer Werft in 2022.
