Sif Holding has finalised the takeover of KCI the engineers from Royal IHC, as announced in December 2020, when the companies inked the initial agreement for Sif’s acquisition of the Dutch engineering consultancy company.

Financial details of the acquisition have been left undisclosed.

KCI, which bagged EUR 9 million in sales profit last year, employs around 65 people. According to Sif’s latest press release, trade unions have been informed on the takeover and Works Councils have advised positively on the move.

The management of KCI, which was involved during the whole acquisition process, will continue in their positions.

“The aim of the KCI management has been to find the best possible partner for our business activities while we continue to serve our clients in the oil & gas, renewable and leisure market as independent service provider” , said Marc Groenendijk , Managing Director of KCI. “With Sif as our new shareholder, we are confident that we can continue to pursue a strong position in the offshore energy market with a further growth in the offshore wind market and continue to offer our customers effective tailor-made designs and solutions”.

According to Sif, adding KCI’s design engineering skills is an important next step in the company’s development towards an integrated total solution partner for offshore wind monopile products and services.

“This acquisition of KCI is instrumental to fully support this development and we very much look forward to the cooperation with the people at KCI the engineers” , said Fred van Beers , CEO of Sif Holding. “The growth in size and complexity of future Offshore Wind projects has convinced us that a close link between foundation-design and manufacturing know-how can result in a significant optimization of both the design of the foundation and the manufacturing of the same”.

Royal IHC acquired KCI in January 2018, until when the company was owned by Oceanteam.

The Netherlands-based engineering consultancy has been involved in several projects in Europe and Asia. In October 2020, the company was appointed by KEPCO E&C in South Korea as an engineering consultant for wind turbine foundations for the 100 MW Jeju Hanlim offshore wind project.
