Dutch marine contractor Boskalis has acquired S outhern Ocean , a large DP-2 construction support vessel (CSV) jointly owned by Bourbon Offshore and Oceanteam , which is capable of executing a wide range of offshore operations.
The vessel will be renamed Boka Ocean and deployed on various types of offshore energy projects.
The newly-acquired vessel is suitable for the installation of array and export cables, mooring systems of floating structures, and other subsea construction and decommissioning works.
“With the addition of the Boka Ocean to our fleet we strengthen our unparalleled proposition of services for the offshore energy industry”, Boskalis said in a statement.
The sale of Southern Ocean vessel was announced late in March, when Oceanteam also revealed a potential merger with PASSER Group to target high-growth offshore renewable energy market.
After debt service, the sale of the vessel is expected to generate a positive cashflow for the joint venture with Bourbon Offshore, Oceanteam said earlier.
The vessel, delivered by a European yard in 2010, has an overall length of 134 meters, a beam of 27 meters, with a total deck space of 2,400 square metres.
The DP-2 vessel is equipped with two large heave compensated cranes and a 7.2 by 7.2 metre moonpool.
The vessel offers accommodation for 120 persons, Boskalis said.
